I'm a Slowpoke, But They're Finally Done

The dining room curtains are done and hung.

It's difficult to get good photos with my old, simple camera because the light from the windows is overpowering, but not in real life. We love this room! I call it my conservatory.

New Look

We bought a great RV trailer last summer and thoroughly enjoyed our trips with it. It's just right for the two of us now.

BUT!

I think the decor is dark and pretentious, as if it's trying to be a high class hotel. I don't like it so I'm replacing the window coverings to begin a change of atmosphere to be more in line with, well, something fun, like vacation.

Original curtains and blinds in the bedroom.

New curtains on TopDad's side of the room.

This is how they open.

I have pink on my side--see the button to hold them open?

I fell in love with this tropical bird fabric and I think it's lots more fun!

Score at the Store

Sometimes my timing is just perfect! A trip to the thrift store yields treasures beyond measure. (Is that too cheesy sounding? Who cares!)

Take a look at the latest finds:

Vogue Patterns for 19 cents each:

A shower curtain ($2.50) that will see new life as a window curtain in my bedroom:

Oops! A photobombing Mr. Movie:

A gorgeous quilt panel ($3.00) that quite possibly will be made into a wall hanging for the living room; but don't hold your breath, remember how slow I am.

Take That! It's Curtains for You

Finally! The dining room curtains are finished and up. I'm going for a farmhouse/cottage look.
How did I do?

A long time ago I decided that I'm not fancy; I'm a peasant and feel most comfortable when my home is simple, homespun, and cozy. Hence, my curtains of unbleached muslin, tab top with assorted buttons from my stash. I chose yellow because that will be the color of the walls eventually, when we have time to remove three or four layers of wallpaper and then paint them.

Next project, the living room curtains.
